Returning to work after a break (Fully Booked)
Tue 09 Jun 15 at London Capital Club, London

Returning to work in investment after a career break is a challenge, whether the break was for maternity or paternity leave, travel or following redundancy. This event, brought to you by CFA UK's Women's Network (but open to all) will explore the impact of a break on your career, why taking a break can make sense and how to adapt to reintegration into the workplace.

Our diverse panel of experts will share their experiences, strategies for success and insights. After an introduction from each speaker, the session will be open to questions so please come with your topics for discussion at this highly interactive session. The content is equally applicable to men as well as women and will also be helpful for managers in understanding the issues for their teams as they plan a break or return to work in investment.

One of the speakers, Katerina Gould, Women Returners says: “We set up Women Returners because of the difficulties we, our peers and our coaching clients encountered when returning to work after a multi-year career break. Initially focused on supporting the women, we recognised the untapped potential of this group and so developed an organisational arm in 2014 to create a bridge between experienced professional women with a CV gap and organisations with a senior female talent gap. Our aim is to create non-linear corporate career paths, including an acceptable pause, with a clear route back to a senior role.”

The other speakers are:
  • Katherine Cox, CFA, Client Director, Schroders - Katherine has taken two maternity leaves and will talk about her experience, how she applied the lessons of her first leave to her second and share her practical advice.
  • Adrian Dyer, Member, Cityfathers, will give his perspective on paternity leave, the issues facing professional men in balancing family and work and the benefits he finds in his approach.
  • Phanella Mayall Fine, Executive Coaching Consultancy, will explore the ways firms approach reintegrating staff after a break, the advice she gives and the issues she encounters as a coach.
